Open selection processes International critics and curators work under public scrutiny, selecting the very best artwork for final exhibitions. Selectors accept to reveal their choices in public, onsite.
Separation of roles Celeste Prize's unique character derives from a clear separation of roles:
- Each curator of the Selection Panel makes his or her choice in public.
- 40 finalist artists vote the prize money
- The Organiser takes care of the organisation and implementation of terms & conditions.
Celeste's way Celeste is creating the conditions for open, accountable selection processes. For too long, many art prizes have been organised on narrow or unaccountable lines to the detriment of artists. While selection by individuals is always a subjective activity, it's Celeste's aim to favour, the clearest possible results, by persuading selectors that responsible choices should be made in public.
A supportive online network
Connects artists, galleries, critics, curators, collectors, museum and foundation directors, public arts administrators and the general public. Celeste offers one of the most advanced and innovative web platforms from which to organise and promote one’s art work, publicise events, organise exhibitions, and make contact with like-minded professionals to develop ideas and projects in the future.
A dynamic presence which enables artists and arts professionals to share experiences, knowledge and creativity within a global art community. 9,000 people visit Celeste Network every day, making it an invaluable motor for opportunities of contact, to receive and make criticism, being part of ongoing global promotion via a number of onsite activities and priority visualisations. Members benefit from global communications, word-of-web referrals, have their works archived and searched-for according to the most upto date methods of online research, as well as being alerted instantly of others working with similar interests and content around the world.
It's free to join the network, while there is and entry fee to join calls Celeste has no financial sponsors, only partners who provide free-exchange collaboration or technical sponsorship to create events. Anyone can join the network and have his or her personal page free with unlimited upload of works, events and communications with other members; an entry fee is payable when artists decide to submit works to the prize or open calls.
