I seek to bring different styles of painting together. In this painting I have chosen Michelangelo's David with the backdrop of London's houses of parliment. Of course, there can be various interpretations when trying to understand this painting. My tendency is to employ various dissonnant elements to add confussion of meaning and to embue a sense of mystery which keeps the viewer engaged in trying to guess and understand, but also for them to bring their own interpreation to the work itself.
I strive to keep a traditional technique of painting mixed with a contemporay aspect and it is this sense of classical and historical presence from the artists of the past such as Michelangelo and Dali which inspired me as an artist to create the paintings that I do. I am also interested in photorealsim, abstraction and a sense of conflict which is a common thread throughout my work.
