The symbolism of the butterfly represents many ideas in this painting. The butterfly appears to be delicate but has hidden strength. Elements of nature such as the flower explore the obvious conflict with the urban; but also the permanent and the temporary, and how imagery is used in spiritual and artistic symbolism. I try to explore the concept of painting by combining layers of painted, silk-screened, spray painted and drawn imagery.
