Ciao Bella

Installation, Political / Social, Various materials, Other, 250x250x250cm, 2009
Through the use of painting, sculpture and photography, this installation suggests the positive aspects of cultural unification and the symbiotic relationship between man and earth. It also alludes to the suggestion of failure.
Whislt spectating, the viewer is being watched by two gorilla heads (the ape has historically been used to symbolise both the devil and the artist), almost challenging for a decision to be made.
The choice of materials, used within the work, have also brought some of these questions to the fore; as the exhibiting of bitumen and paper pulp will naturally bring environmental connotations or judgements into the equation.

My very "first" impression was "I must stand in front of this piece to truly appreciate its grandeur, its scale, its whole meaning." Many of the pieces I've seen have evoked this feeling!! This is definitely one for a close encounter, in order to get its full embrace!!! Thank you for this experience!!!
