Notes on artwork:
This oil painting started from a true reportage photo which was censured by the official mass media and some internet websites.Apart from the reporting aspect and the symbolic one of purity, which today is thrown away and forgotten amongst ruins, this series of paintings is titled 'Reality Show' because my main intention is a reflexion focused on the use of mass media, on the sometimes fading border between reality and fiction and also on how aesthetics today strongly influences ethics.

It is ironic, as you say, that such a powerful image, with its potential to shock large numbers of people out of their complacency and complicit acceptance of wars supposedly carried out in their name has been censored. Only two works of art have ever made me cry and for very different reasons, the first time I saw Michaelangelo's dying slave I was moved by the beauty, when I think about your image of the child's severed head I weep for the horror and futility.
I think your Reality series is the most shocking thing I have ever seen and that is obviously the point you were trying to get across. We have through the media become almost completely de-sensitised to war especially when it is air-brushed to the extent that it is in recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. I think your work is a real wake up call on a par with the famous photographic image of the naked screaming Vietnamese child which so shocked the previous generation.

You say something about ethic.
I think it's no ethic to present a canvas like this if the artist has never shown an interest - in his pieces - or commitment in social problems. I don't remember to have seen Tommaso painting in the GAza WALL with Banksy, for instance.
I hope (for you) some galleries would take this canvas in their rooms...I've read the jury's motivation.
I think jurors have committed a sin of superficiality and bad taste. I think it's a sign of our times, where who shout higher is absolutely right. Sensibility and decency are out of fashion values.I confess I'm hardly able to write english! A hard work!

In ogni caso per me più che Internazionale questo premio lo trovo assai Provinciale. Fare arte contemporanea evidentemente è questo.

Was it to hide the truth of some information that governments want to hide from us?. I don't think so. I think it was respect to the child and sympathy for the parents. By painting this image that as a photograph was deemed not suitable for the public you have ignored the emotions of the parents and exploited this child for your ends.
Ritengo che l'arte vada ricercata in fattori più complessi e nello stesso tempo più semplici ed impalpabili, come il retrogusto di un buon vino.

un ulteriore penoso atto di strumentalizzazione che quella povera bambina ha subito dopo la sua morte.
Ps: parlare di un lavoro non equivale ad attribuirne un valore....

this is the result of war and carnage and peoples loss. What could be
a more powerful statement. We can so easily edit this stuff out of
our heads if seen in the newspaper or on the news, as we are familiar with disposable medium, but a painting has
more of a permanency about it. Not for the fainthearted perhaps, but
unforgettable congratulations
The organization must ensure the transparency of such procedure and make public the reviews, like in any kind of competition.
Any criticism should not be addressed to the Artist but to Celeste jurors.
Io sono un padre e credo che la cura, l'unica cura che ci sia contro simili violenze, è quella di educare i propri figli secondo valori veri, affinché certe cose non avvengano. Avrei mille cose da dirti, ma non sono sicuro tu voglia sentirle. Goditi intanto il momento e SE sei convinto di ciò che fai, vai avanti a testa bassa e non sentir ragioni. Ciao e scusami ancora.

Non voglio nemmeno discutere se i tuoi propositi siano genuini oppure se siano dettati dalla necessità di farsi notare (Cattelan, Hirst e compagnia bella insegnano).
Quello che voglio dire è che forse è l'ora di farla finire di "urlare", di sbattere in faccia, di usare il turpiloquio. L'arte non può essere questo. Non deve essere questo. Non ti ritengo un artista impegnato, non credo che (SEGUE)...

I understand the journalist motive of the photographer to take this photo, but to paint the photo seems sensationalist.
The attention you receive is for this image is large as it is provocative, but to gain attention for your work by exploiting the misery of others
for me is not worth it.
non dico di condividere quello che viene proposto dall'artista dico a voi che vi siete scatenati di fare un giro per gli altri profili e vedere se ritrovate una e dico una discussione del genere.

la perfezione mi spiace ma non apprtiene al genere umano e almenocchè tu non sia un essere divino non appartiene neanche a te. No prendertela con chi esprime il proprio parere, un'ultima cosa, vedo che hai ricevuto 31 voti e un giudizio di 2,7. Non mi sembra sia un ottimo risultato!

come ho scritto per l altra fotografia da lei copiata, se proprio vuoi risvegliare l attenzione divulga la foto orginale. a pari merito di quei ritrattisti realizzatori di vere e proprie croste che per 50 euro tirano fuori un ritratto dalla fotografia di un persona genralemnte morta.
Quando andrai a berlino per la votazione porta con te il pc e mostra a tutti la foto originale.
Non sò se partecipare ad un concorso d'arte sia mostrare l'orrore e la morte della guerra...non sò.rob.
Surely the original photo is more powerful as it is the actual truth, the painting could be a horrific dream or image from hell from the artists mind.
This doesn't say any more than the original picture.
