Media art from Hungary

Curator: Eike Berg.

Artists and Works: Máté Csató; Beöthy Balázs: Hancsi; Marianne Csáky: Delete; Miklós Erhardt: Sign of the Cross translated; Endre Koronczi; László László Révész; Katarina Sevic: Social Motion; Szacsva y Pál: Build the Roof Higher; Eszter Szabó: Strong Hungary; Csongor G. Szigeti: Epitaphs; Rita Varga

Concept: Videos, objects and installations connected to people. People with fears, fragile, unsettled by what surrounds them, and, in the meantime, focusing on themselves.

Digital art is a reflection and extension of “analogue” feelings. The economical status of people in Hungary and more or less all over the world is becoming unstable. The euphoria about the system change in the socialist countries in the late 80's tilt over to a global feeling of insecurity. Society seems to have become more unjust. The result is a doubt about the known strategies of continuous development, a disbelief in the survived political theories. The fear appears that one could be wrong in one's beliefs and hopes. But There Must Be an Exit!
