As we come, As we go - Florian Weingaertner

As we come, As we go

Painting, Mixed technique, Canvas, 140 x 100 x 45 cm, 2011
My work shall exemplify that we are born onto this earth in one painful moment, experiencing our surroundings helpless and completely depending on others without having any control.

Now grown up and living in a world as safe and accommodating as never before, I experience the same feeling of helplessness and this gives me great pain again.

Because we live in a world with its population growing and growing, with mass destruction of nature, mass extinction of species, and cruel mass production of meat and still, the third world is starving.
Our value system is completely off, every action is only based on profit regardless of any further implications to our living environment and in our generation we will not see enough change to the better to take that pain away from me.

High above in my dreams - Florian Weingaertner

High above in my dreams

Painting, Mixed technique, Canvas, 140 x 100 x 4 cm, 2012
Through our dreams we can extract ourselves from the real world as we know it and we can elevate us in terms of spiritual consciousness and imagination). This painting is a metaphor through its elements of a woman (recognizable by the body) who seems to be lifted up, hanging in eternity without suspension. the face is androgynous and the expression humble and enlightened. The nun's hat reinforces the spiritual context, the hoop the figure is holding reinforces the eternal context by the symbol of a snake's head biting its tail. The expressionistic color parts in the upper third show the emotions which can flow freely in our dreams without the boundaries of social behaviour, etc.

Dancing with Forces Unknown - Florian Weingaertner

Dancing with Forces Unknown

Painting, Mixed technique, Canvas, 60 x 80 x 4 cm, 2010
Acrylic and oil mixed media on canvas, this painting exemplifies the joy but also the danger of life through the metaphor of a dancing couple. The man is almost invisible but instead there is the fierce image of a raging bull gleaming out of the dark. The woman is completely immersed by the routine of the dance (and of life), unaware of the unstable forces she embraces while listening and reacting to the well-known melody of everyday-life.
