Silence is a Lie

39 Visits

A Chinese known as "ceremonies", can be described as a courtesy as much as ranks first among the world covered the universe. For most Chinese people, the ceremony is indispensable, courtesy is a virtue, less manners is moral turpitude.

In our culture, we need to pay certain amount of money as wedding favor. The closer we are to the newly-married couple, the larger amount of money we need to give. Sometimes, it could be over a thousand dollars per person.

Most of the people resist to attend other's wedding because of this reason. Yet, they would still go at the end because of the courtesy. No one questioning why do we need to follow this etiquette or why is the ceremony is building on money issue.
To review this truth, an installation is made. Loads of HK$100 banknotes are used to form the Chinese word '囍', (the word always uses in Chinese weddings to represent double happiness) to make a dig at the silence of Chinese towards their courtesy.

Dimension: 30cm x 30cm x 25cm
