Sculpture - Human figure”The Surrey Swimmer” was developed in collaboration with a Canadian public art consultant and conceived for a new public aquatic centre.
The proposed sculpture would be cast in polished aluminum and the plinth fabricated of glass illuminated with color changing LED´s supported from solar energy.
With 95 competitive entries from around the world, we were not shortlisted. I love the vintage figurative quality combined with new light technology, it's a nod to the social component of a community swim as well as hope for the future. The concept is strong and the Surrey Swimmer may yet find another host in the future.

Painting - Abstract informalEnough is Enough is a strike at the root of four former oil-paintings. The pieces were cut into stripes, woven together and finally polished with layers of graphite. The sewing is done with thin metal threads. They represent an aggressive acting out due to frustration and confusion on the endless ongoing process of producing art out in the blue nothing.

“Life is a Puzzle” is my personal story about years of rejection and a dogged strength and will to continue developing my artistic expression.
The piece consists of a gathering of four applications for funds from the Danish Ministry of Cultural Affairs. The four handwritten applications for funds to continue my work were made from 2000 till 2004 in the form of an oil-painting on cardboard and afterwards cut to a puzzle.
They were all returned with “We regret to inform you ---“
Once a year in the last 20 years I have applied for funds - both to perform a provoking act – and to have a sort of documentation on how a so called impartial system handles selection processes.

The installation is referring both to the melting poles and the cairns, placed in the mountains all over the World for the sake of guiding our fellowmen from one safe point to the next.
Hikers are expected to bring a new stone to the next cairn for the sake of keeping them well preserved - standing there forever - and as a symbolic act people carries stones to keep their fellow human being to the track.
The melting poles are significant sign of the lack of will among World leaders to solve the problems due to the global warming and the impact this threatening catastrophe has to millions of people in the so-called undeveloped countries.
The World needs serious hikers to lead us in the right direction.

Sculpture - Sacred / MythologicalCeleste Prize 2012
“Three Samurais” refers to ancient Japanese traditions – both thematic as well as technical.
The three free hanging forms radiate strength and the will to go forward. Simultaneously the chosen material expresses vulnerability – a double sided technique found in most ancient stories to add suspense and open up for several interpretations.
The crumbling technique is an exercise in controlled anarchy and an antidote to the more common known geometric folding technique and gives associations to our crumbled brains, crumbled rock strata etc.

In earlier days meetings were held in open space with the participants sitting on stones ore on the ground around a fire. Meetings were held both for ritual reasons as well as for making rules for daily life. Now a days we meet in virtual space like face book and twitter and as such controversial point of views and thoughts in general never is delivered face to face. Debates become toothless seeking towards conservatism. I worked with the same theme on “Ceiling” which is a commissioned work for a town hall in Denmark.

The subject is a map of the region "drawn" with colour changing optic fibers. The surface is decorated with leaf gold, leaf copper and leaf silver and following painted with oil crayons. The impression is gorgeous and a meditative ambience is added to the big hall.

When I think of my crazy bike tours in order to collect thousands of used bicycle tubes for an exhibition project, clean them and weave such a large work with them, the first thought is great reverence for all the hands having been in contact with every tube before it ends as a share component of this concrete piece consisting of 235 tubes. I am fascinated by the idea that these tubes have driven other people round the world from - and to work - nurseries - boyfriends - parents - in short - they have been in constant movement from one place to another. Whirr of wings and thoughts that are now woven together into a coherent whole.
Lots of meetings and farewells, laughter and tears, secrets and thoughts, dreams and imagination. Movements so important to those involved that they effectively decided to undertake this journey.
The bright circle could be a constellation that light up more or less clear. Suddenly it's there and you feel an intense joy, but the moment you begin to explain where to look for it, it's gone. Life is so fleeting!

My approach to the oil painting medium is connected to my other expressions in the way of disappearing into the idea. The plane tree motif has been going on for quite a long time and by the end I realize to have been working with a hyper realistic technique also revealed in Nordic literature.
The main subject is what is in between. The plane tree has an almost erotic ambience – naked and just standing there waiting for the mild summer wind to touch the skin. One can feel the strength they bear and how proudly they hold the sky.

We sit in the living room my son and I – he in the sofa and I in a cosy chair to the left. The telly is on. I invite to a talk about anything and everything, but in his hand he has the remote control and suddenly the room is filled with football games, the civil war in Syria, an earthquake in Japan, president Obama´s speech to the nation, a feature on smoking, a sex scandal with a room maid and the former president of World Bank. At that time I left the room to prepare dinner and on my way out I came to think of how dangerous it is to sit down in a chair – in fact one can go mad.

Why do not we never talk anymore, darling? The installation is a reflection of modern communications.
When I was a kid my mom used the back of the old sugar bags for her grocery list and letters were stored in a drawer with a ribbon around them. If there were a message to the nearest neighbors it would be an insult not to knock on the door. Today it is done with an e-mail, SMS or a face book message. Even lovers communicate in this way. Face to face talks almost non-existent longer and I personally look forward to receiving hugs and kisses from my kids with puffs of smoke - as the Indians in ancient times.
