Exhibition of paintings and sculpture and Giulietta Cavallotti Isabella Morandi
Rome Gallery Laboratory, Via del Moro 49
Exhibition Opening March 21, 2017 18:30
Opens March 21, 2017 at 18.30, at The Lab Gallery in Rome, the exhibition "Open Sea" Giulietta Cavallotti and Isabella Morandi.
The Sea issue is addressed by the two artists through two different points of view - the sea and the odyssey of migrants, on the one hand; the sea as a source of life, the other - and two different forms of expression, painting and sculpture.
Giulietta Cavallotti, after years of painting on the theme of the journey within production, which in trains and stations finds its real and symbolic expression, is now projected towards a dimension of alter-ness, turning his gaze to the migrants and to their search for a better future through a hazardous sea voyage. There is no hope for them in the artist who, through the color intensity and the evidence of the material (wooden planks, ropes, chains, barbed wire), crystallizes the moment in his paintings in which the merciless from sea stream becomes barrier to passage it becomes a cage, from horizon plunges into the abyss, eternal guardian of broken lives.
In the work of Isabella Morandi to be protagonists are the forms of sea and its creatures, which originate in the endless depths and then emerge into the light, following ideally the sinuous movement of a ladder cobalt. The artist brings out the waves and dolphins from the glow of the white marble of Thassos and relies clay to re-create iridescent shells. His sculptures are a homage to the force - generative and regenerative - and the beauty of the Element Pelagic.
The exhibition will be open until March 26, 2017 at the following times: Wednesday 22, Thursday 23 and Friday, 24 March 18:00 to 21:00 hours.
Saturday, 25 March 11:00 to 20:00 hours on Sunday, March 26 at 11:00 to 19:00.
