This painting is part of a (still) ongoing project of mine titled "My family and other delights"…. The title was inspired a little by Gerald Durrell's "My Family and Other Animals"…. I had in mind my personal family only, and could have worked on it for ages without thinking about others, not even about my close friends and neighbors… But there are MANY conscious AND unconscious influences around. After all we might ask: what a "Family" is?? Mom+Dad+Kids- Tribe- Nation- State- …Mankind..?... And for what period? one glimpse… several generations… etc ??
Definitely being Israeli has an influence on my art, one of several primary influences.
