TOUCH ART
by Paola Michela Mineo
I do not tell you who you are, I want to tell you: look at you.
Too often you forget to book the only important journey of your life: that one within yourself. Perceiving an object by getting out of it: only in this way you enter it again with a greater consciousness.
Sometimes it is sufficient to change the point of view to have a different perception of yourself. I try to do it by my human plaster casts. Recreating through gauzes and chalk shaped directly on the person a thin shell which is the exact copy of the selected part of the body. This is how I create my works, which are characterized by an almost sacral ritual of gestures and moments of different emotional intensity. The touch and the physical experience both lived with intuition and emotion.
This is what I define Touch Art, a multisensory art able to activate through the touch the sphere of the brain linked to emotionality, to behavior, to memory, to senses. The language is multidisciplinary, always evolving.
The artistic handiwork is the semantic evidence of every subject during the artistic session.
The plaster cast is what remains of this shared path, the physical sign left by the subject.
