The ideology of Capitalism works wonders in keeping a mindset in place. What feeds the mindset is the concept of cause and effect.

If one considers all the above (weather, engineered seed, pharmaceutical companies and capitalism) and views each as a system then it is exactly this linear thinking mindset that can not grasp the ambiguity of complex environments and their interdependencies. This, however, also implies that any change concept would be linear, rational and removed from these interdependencies and hence fail -> due to the lack of feedback of and understanding the dynamics of the various systems, collecting info/processing info, reflecting and thinking through and beyond the info/knowledge gained in a systemic way.
