This painting represents light and darkness on Earth at the same time. When there is light, somewhere there is shadow. When there is life, there is death. When the sun is shining and so is the moon. Representing the sun and the moon in the sky, at the same time, is symbolically important to Murray and reflects the holistic way she works, constantly observing her conscious experiences during the day as well the subconscious messages she receives whilst dreaming at night. She amalgamates significant spiritual observations into expressive narratives for the paintings she creates, which often represent real landscapes experienced whilst travelling around the world.
