As everyone knows in America there are many avant-gardes even today in many fields including contemporary art. In practice, all the painters who come forward are part of the avant-garde, but many American painters, much further ahead, are considered even more avant-garde than others.
Going ahead generally requires more courage than to stand behind, so the avant-garde artists are generally more brave, both for the use of color and for the invention of new pictorial styles, of painters who are in retroguardia.
When in a gallery there's an American avant-garde show, collectors run from all over the world to look for the big deal, investment in art that earns millions of dollars. In fact, they buy a trendy picture, and when they spend a couple of months, while artist artists make new paintings in new styles, the painted picture is re-evaluated and becomes perhaps a classic piece of work and the investment is guaranteed.

Since, as we said, the avant-garde painter is the one that is ahead, to be so officially cataloged, we need to measure the space that separates us from the artist immediately behind us and the one ahead, and if the spacing between the distances falls within the parameters published on National Gazette, then you can hopefully be admitted to the exclusive club of cutting-edge American painters.
The other parameters are the number of abstract paintings made over the past three years, as abstract painters are more avant-garde and less classical. Artists officially recognized as American artistic avant-garde are given a silver medallion engraved with AAA letters, acronym of American Avant-garde Artist, and can exhibit the avant-garde symbol both on the door of their atelier and on illustrative brochures when they exhibit in public.
They get great discounts in the beautiful color shops and fine arts and can generally travel free on public transport.
The exhibits of their paintings are usually more enjoyable than classic art exhibitions, they turn younger and generally turn into festivals on the skyscrapers' terraces in New York, where the artistic avant-garde is best enjoyed with the panorama.
Unfortunately, for a purely speculative calculation, many artists just a few months after reaching the desirable classification of avant-garde painters sell all their paintings to friends and relatives, return the card and the cadres automatically become classic paintings and can be resold with A good profit margin.
