Paul Morisson’s conception of the landscape representation goes over the conventions by giving up the perspective illusion. The English artist actually creates two-dimensional spaces where the figurative natural elements build unexpected landscapes through a series of disorienting optical illusions weaving between representation and abstraction.
The work the artist has properly conceived for Fondazione VOLUME! is a black and white wall painting with silhouettes embracing all the space through references and mirrors.
This Paul Morrison’s work comes out from the painting tradition of herbarium and botanical studies but it moves toward a new reality of fantastic natural landscapes.
