In 2004, in Tokyo, the city where they live, based SPREAD. A concept that brings them in short order to the project "Life Stripe": lines of color, lines of life, aspects of life with the colors displayed.
The techniques are various: dall'acrilico on canvas in various sizes, the paper, the use of linen fabric and hand-painted scarves and tapestries from the strong, vibrant and beautiful colors to "paint" the life.
The idea of the young couple arrives in Tokyo on their way when they encounter a "hikikomori," a woman, sad, lonely, disappointed by life, who finished with all human relationships, with the company because they are unemployed. Her sadness was the door to communicate with the outside only in a virtual way with the only means at his disposal: the computer. His life is lost without hope, gray, without color!
Kobayashi and Yamada, decide to help her and, under the close supervision of a psychologist, Dr. Ito, begin the creative experiment.
I provide many of the small strips of paper of different colors with which she will do a sort of "diary" that involves scanning all twenty-four hours of the day: each color corresponds to an activity of the day such as washing, dressing, cooking, eating, watching TV, going to movies, reading, listening to music, going out shopping, sports, etc.. but also to a state of mind. Here is that by combining, in the end, all the strips of colored paper, you get a "Life Stripe", the "aspects of life shown by the colors." At the beginning of the experiment seemed to fail, because the only colors that made up the "strip" were all in shades of black and gray, like the life of our "hikikomori". But with great patience and perseverance, and through a continuous exchange of "Life Strip Diary," at last our two headstrong designers - "therapists" are able to get a result very "colorful" and amazing their so-called "patient". It was taken the life!
Of course, this first experiment corroborated the belief that the color is life and that, therefore, the search for SPREAD were to spread this concept: "Life Stripe" helps to perceive their lives with happiness, joy, creativity, energy and vitality, and above all hope .
And speaking of hope, let us return to the tragic events of 11 March 2011, which saw Japan severely hit by the tsunami and the nuclear danger. Here again our two young designers committed to social solidarity initiatives with their own people; April 1st of this year, in Nagano, Japan, organized a "workshop" for 25 children to have fun assembling and gluing strips of paper have colored product of the "Life Stripe". Among these magnificent works of "hope", 12 works will be exhibited at the Salon Outside Space during the Solferino.
Finally, to give a further endorsement of solidarity with Japan, the April 19 opening of "Life Strip" will also be a charity, (Sake tasting offered by "Hagakure") in collaboration with "Garden of Dreams", the 'not for profit organization, established in October 2011 to help victims of Fukushima, who will lead this summer in Sardinia fifteen Japanese children aged 6 to 12 years for the climate still disintossicarli radiation near the power plant.
Association to serve 50 000 euro: a prime example of great solidarity, thanks to the historic twinning between Milan and Osaka, has been given by the Municipality of Milan which has already donated 5 thousand euros for this expensive and challenging project.
