According to Japanese culture the Haiku should be expressed in a single breath, capable, with few "on", that is the equivalent of our syllables, of capturing a feeling, or an image, with a specific sensory language. Originating in the seventeenth century, these short but intense poems are often inspired by natural elements, or moments of beauty, or an exciting experience.
Usually they consist of two grammatically independent parts and also separate images. But what matters is that the composition has an intrinsic force capable of involving the reader, moving him and causing him to a profound intimist reflection. A few syllables, a few words in short but lots and lots of expressive force. An unusual language for us Westerners, which at first surprises us, is misleading, but in the end it wins us over. Maristella Angeli with this collection has succeeded in the difficult intent and with her poetic sensibility, her inner sweetness, her natural talent in knowing how to interpret the language of Nature, she gives us her Haiku, real pearls of feelings that awaken our spiritual torpor with the universal language of beauty.
