2013 PRESENT ART FESTIVAL
V Meeting in Shanghai
On July 14, 2013, at the prestigious Shanghai PuDong National Library, recurs the annual PRESENT ART FESTIVAL – V Meeting in Shanghai, the international event dedicated to art and its many languages, that this year celebrates its fifth edition with a selected group of artists from various countries all over the world.

The Present Art Festival is much more than an art event: not only it involves the protagonists of the world of art, but it also offers companies and firms an opportunity to enter the Chinese market. The Present Art Festival, by endorsing a philosophy of mutual openness to communication and to cultural exchange, has promotion of art, culture and the best of each country among its main goals, laying the foundations for a productive dialog between the East and the West.

The Present Art Festival, with its programme of exhibitions, promotional events, forums and conventions, is an opportunity to get updated on the latest developments of contemporary art, and an important occasion to get in touch with the Chinese public and the opportunities offered by today’s China.

The 2013 Present Art Festival is a project by Present Contemporary Art, under the patronage of the Chinese Ministry of Culture, the Italian Institute of Culture in Shanghai, the Spanish Consulate in Shanghai, the Piedmont Regional Government, the Liguria Regional Government, the Genoa Province Government, the Genoa Municipality, the Florence Municipality and the Bilbao Municipality.

The event catalogue is enriched by a preface written by Spanish General consul Gonzalo Ortiz and by an introduction written by Paolo Sabbatini, Director of the Cultural Promotion Area of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This year’s event is also organized in partnership with Museo Ugo Guidi in Forte dei Marmi (Province of Lucca) and with Associazione Artsnet, based in Florence.
The fifth edition of the Present Art Festival will include a section completely dedicated to the Florence-Shanghai Prize, which will feature an exhibition of the artworks of the artists who placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each of the three categories of the competition: painting, sculpture/installation and photo art.

Moreover, at the Shanghai Pudong Culture and Art Guidance Centre Present Contemporary Art, together with the Shanghai Municipality, will open its new exhibition space with an exhibition entitled Window of the World Art in Shanghai, where you will able to admire some of the most important artworks that participated in the previous edition of the Present Art Festival. The exhibition, which will last for a month, will open on July 20 and will be attended by representatives of the Municipality and of high-profile companies which made this project possible.

Among the events that will stud the Festival, we would like to highlight Daniele Lunghini’s personal exhibition (Lunghini is a finalist of the 2012 Florence Shanghai Prize), entitled Rinascimento futuro. The City of the Liquid Lights, which will open on July 16 at “Acqua & Farina”, the elegant Italian restaurant in Shanghai.
