On Saturday, February 28 dispari&dispari project - Reggio Emilia presents Move, Your Body, an exhibition of Ulrika Segerberg (Eskilstuna1976). A collection of recent works that dialogue with the idea of 'transience' characterizes this first solo exhibition of the Swedish artist in Italy. The metamorphosis and the redefinition itself of the role of the artwork is the hinge on which all the Segerberg's work rotates and the key to understanding the works presented. She works with a large repertoire of textile materials, molded, carved, painted, sewn and various kinds of industrial products, aggregated into extraordinary and spectacular art works. A mixture of purpose that often brings her painting and sculpture works to invade the field of installation. These 'collage' three-dimensional are often related to the human figure and to the objects associated with it, such as clothing, tools, motorcycle saddles, gloves, goggles. A multi-ethnic heritage in dialogue with the ephemeral objects of everyday life. A staging of reinvented furnishings, symbolic elements and oversized figures of great emphasis, that change their nature from one state to another, depending on the occasion. Like the clothes worn during the performance, the involucre artworks or the-scenes drama in which there is a constant evolution of the image, as if something should happen or something just happened.
Ulrika Segerberg has exhibited in prestigious solo and group exhibitions including: 2015 Rabenmütter, LENTOS Kunstmuseum Linz, Austria (0kt 2015) / Locker out of Order, oqbo, Berlin / 2014 Temporary Autonomous Zone 3, ff, Teatr Studio, Warsaw / Symmetrie des Wassers, WUK, Kunsthalle Exnergasse, Wien / 2013 the Performative Minute, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin, Temporary Autonomous Zone 2, ff, Galerie im Körnerpark, Berlin.
