Eboli's MOA will host Woman IV ed. Gerda Taro - aSalerno.it
Saturday May 18th at 8.30 pm an artistic happening organized by Women will be inaugurated, this year proposing its fourth edition. This event, a collective exhibition, will be set up at the MOA museum, Museum of Operation Avalanche, and will be named after the first photographer killed in a war action: Gerta Pohorylle, known under the pseudonym of Gerda Taro.
The entire exhibition attempts to probe the problems of the female world which, perhaps more than ever, should not go unnoticed; this is why the first woman dead photographer in the war was chosen to coagulate around her a series of artists all united in the same struggle: the one against violence against women.
Gerda Taro is a German photographer, an innovative spirit of photography, a free and countercurrent woman, known for documenting the hot front of the Spanish civil war with a strong visual capacity and for being the companion of Robert Capa, pseudonym of Endre Ernő Friedmann, also He is a photographer, but of Hungarian nationality, known and remembered for the testimonies left to us of five war conflicts including the Spanish Civil War.
The death of Gerda, during a war action, overwhelmed by a tank while she was doing her job, helped to mythologize her figure as a rebellious and courageous woman, fallen for her ideas and her work.
For these and other reasons, there are many artists who have proposed to show their work together, but the scientific committee of Women has chosen only the works that express the meaning of this event in the best way, selecting 42 divided works then divided into four sections: painting, photography, video art, artist's book.
