My Paintings are broken narratives, never-ending stories or adventures with an infinite amount of different outcomes. Like the extreme sensitivity of chaos, predictions are deemed meaningless. I wish to create my own control parameters. An amusement park, a ferris wheel, a carousel of chaos.
The effect is one of limitless visual possibilities, playing with the Dicordianists, indulging the chaos the discord the dissent and ultimately accepting the absurd.
Perhaps it is that moment of silence before work begins in the studio that is the painters Materia Prima. The colours poised on the palette ‘without form and void.’ Potential; a deep inhalation between chaos and a completed painting. To paint is the control of chaos, which is if chaos is the nothingness from which the first objects of existence appeared, like Ovid’s ‘Lifeless Lump.’
In my paintings, naked and eager figures sprout from trees or dive into chasms like deities of discord. A dissent into Haides, like the followers of Orpheus, fated return again and again. Are we bound in repetition or do we celebrate living the most, untroubled by achieving the best?
