Biografia
Ben is a visual artist and teacher based in Melbourne, Australia.
The bulk of his work circles issues of representation, time, structure and consciousness. Coming from a background of hyper realist painting, Howe often produces the initial subjects in sculptural form, and uses them as the basis for his artworks. He uses a combination of creative vision and technical mastery to successfully navigate the gap between research, documentary and artistic expression.
The finished pieces possess a severe beauty and are at once psychological, provocative and absorbing.
Other works are more sociological and initiate dialogues concerning gentrification, history, aesthetic beauty and mass movements.
