Biografia
Jen is a Abstract Expressionist painter from Melbourne. She moved to Regional Victoria in 2012 to fulfill her dream of spending more time in her studio and close to nature, away from the distractions of city life. Jen has been painting and drawing from a young age. In 2001, Jen completed her Honours degree at Monash University, majoring in Painting and Ceramic Design. Jen has exhibited in solo and group shows and has worked on private commissions since 1991.
‘When entering the studio I sometimes have an image in mind and use this as the skeleton for the painting. I try not to think, but feel, until the painting reaches some sort of balance or visual pitch. I try to bypass self-censoring thoughts; this allows me to be influenced by the layers of colours to an unplanned journey within, through the work. My paintings are more about letting go and trusting in the process itself, without the internal chatter of the mind’.
