Biography

BRIEF PORTRAIT OF ANTONIO ARANGO

With a university education as graphic communication designer, Antonio Arango has extended his studies with various courses in art theory, photography, cinema, theater, comic and electronic media.

He has won several awards such as the 3rd. at the Third Video Biennial at the Experimental Video Art category(1994). He was awarded the 2nd. place in the Second Month of Performance (1993) and earned a special mention on the 3rd Month of Performance in the Ex-Teresa Alternative Art Museum (1994). Winner of electronic media facade for the Goethe Institute Mexico (2005). His videos and installations have been exhibited both in Mexico (museums and galleries) and in various festivals and exhibitions in the United States, Spain, Canada, Germany, Brazil, France, Japan and Chile.

It has been 2 times fellow in the Young Artists Program FONCA (National Fund for the Culture and Arts) in the ​​Multimedia area (1995-1996) and in the Video area (1998-1999) and has received a FONCA stimulus Fonca in The Support Program for Cultural Coinversiones for the video magazine “Glycerin” (2000). Simultaneously was codirector of Nitro Press (1999-2004).
He had the Production Support and Research in Art and Media 2010 by the National Arts Center in Mexico City for the scenic and multimedia project “Coalescence”
Currently he is a Multimedia jury and tutor for the FONCA
