carladuarte.com/ As an artist, I practice performing integrated experiences within society for a greater comprehension to the self in relation with others.
My individual work studies the relationship between the performance of the body in space and its relation to locating culture. Considering the trajectory rather than the destination, self-geography and mobility remain an open experience to question and embody. Performing self-reflexive everyday acts with complete concentration, I hope to deconstruct common forms of daily ritual into an inexplicable clarity of perception and awareness.
Within my collaborative practice, our process explores the reproaching and reactivation of everyday material, where intention is given to the awareness of use and reuse of skill, material, and dialogue. Creating installations that suggest involvement through hands-on craft, we use formal choices to encourage activity and dialogue. Generating spaces where people are given opportunities to consider themselves and each other as creative agents, opportunities are designed for a shared experience.
