Biography
Art basis and Equilibrist theory, was conceived as a synthesis of a complex and accurate introspective work that Emmanuele De Ruvo, functioning as an active spectator of life‘s equilibrium games, executes in functional and aesthetical terms. Ready-made, Suprematism, Metaphysics, Surrealism and Minimal Art are some of the many areas in which the artist moves in an intricate game of gestures, ideas and reflections, that will mark his quest in a decisive and eclectic manner. It is quite amazing to see in his works, the will to connect matter to thought, move theoretical ideas into practical movements and make political, social, cultural and human realities into something tangible. He transforms all of those realities into mathematical formulas and into concretely visible objects, making use of ”Duchamp poetic license” as a means of interpreting complex concepts, which although clearly visible, are too often accepted as inevitable or even normal. In the artist quest, Titans, are men of power that hold the fates of tightrope walkers, that for the most part, cannot even walk on a rope. Although briefly studied by several artists, the poetics of equilibrium had never been analyzed in an exhaustive way, researching and evaluating of all its facets and application fields. Only an artist like De Ruvo (born out of an artistic and physical impulse, with a strict but also free), could somehow find his point of equilibrium, through the incessant quest of equilibrium itself.
