Biography
Being a fashion designer, choosing art as a medium of expression was not new to Nidhi. Even as a fashion designer, she was intrigued by the sketching, illustration and draping and often explored different mediums, like, sketching in pencil, water colors and pastels.
As a successful fashion designer, Nidhi established her school of Fashion Designing which paid special emphasis on creativity on illustrations. She also launched her own label alongside the school in Mumbai. Destiny took her to London, where she took on to her career in banking. Eventually art took precedence, transforming Nidhi into a full time artist.
After a formal training in fine arts, Nidhi’s first experience was with charcoal, using cloth and coal powder with stumps. Her driving force has been the philosophy engraved in her by her father who taught her to tap into her potential, not for the outward success but for her inner growth. The formal training opened up different dimensions for Nidhi and she was further fascinated by Chinese brush painting which she mastered under the guidance of Master Lin Lu Zai, Singapore.
Her current mentor Joyotee played a pivotal role in helping Nidhi connect with her deeper self, express the same through art and give her thoughts a form. It is no wonder that Nidhi’s art brings the characters and ideas into imaginable dimensions which draws the viewer into the subject.
Nidhi’s sees art as “a medium for growth of my inner dimensions, a way that connects me to my existence and transforms me further”.
