Biography
was born in 1955 in Bogota. In 1973 he initiated
studies of Fine Arts at the National University of
Colombia, and studied jewelry at the workshop of
Nuria Carulla.
In 1975 he traveled to Europe and from this year to
1978 he studied jewelry, jewelry design, chiselling
and engraving in the Massana school of Barcelona.
In the same catalán city he worked as an apprentice
and then as jewelry designer at the Atelier of Ana Font, a design teacher at the Massana school and a designer for different German companies.
In 1978 he traveled to Germany to study Painting and Graphics with the artista Hans Baschang at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich where he graduated and in 1985 obtained the Masters Degree and an award granted annually to the best pupils.
Fonseca has presented his work in both individual and collective exhibitions in Spain, France, Germany, Colombia, USA and Mexico.
From 1986 to the date, already in Mexico City, he has accomplished interdisciplinary projects which included fashion, dance,music, films and theater.
In 1992 creates the Jewelry Laboratory at the Research Center of Industrial Design (CIDI) of the National Autonomous University of México (UNAM), and starts a Research and Development group (GID) in jewelry, which he directs up to the date.
Currently pursuing a Doctorate of Arts at the Academy of San Carlos at the National School of Plastic Arts of the UNAM, whit the Project: Time as modulator in the artistic task.
