Biography
Droste Effect is a new bilingual Italian-English contemporary art magazine based in Bologna, Italy. The magazine, designed and created by Vincenzo Estremo, Dania Rotatori and Matilde Soligno, features site-specific artworks – unpublished projects, expressly thought for the paper format. The decision to publish Droste Effect magazine on paper in the full digital era comes from its editors belief in the specificity and beauty of books as objects – not in competition with digital publishing, but peculiar objects, a good editorial product. A miscellaneous magazine, that includes limited-edition serigraphies, zine tear sheets and collectibles, and is produced in a limited number of copies (500), in order to give the right value to the original artworks it features.
Droste Effect magazine focuses on the representation of contemporary art in the magazine space, that hence becomes a sort of two-dimensional exhibition. Droste Effect gives particular attention to the art market – collectors, galleries, and museums – and at the same time to an audience which is specific to contemporary art exhibitions.
