About the Artist

Roberto Sgrosso, born in Naples in 1959 and resident in Avellino, has been for several years a self-taught artist. To characterize his work is the use of different and recycled materials, to give life to compositions with a distinctive figurative and decorative connotation. Testing on the materials is strong, both in the choice and in the processing, to create unusual effects that often reveal artistic solutions and suggest new ways of work. Subjects and themes are in constant evolution: To an initial fascination for the classical world, a more contemporary flow has taken over. The Faberge' eggs, the damned Dante , the Napoleonic horses. the symbols of ancient Rome, have all left the place to works which feature an environmentalist sensibility and in which the natural element is prevalent.
