Biography
Joke Raes is a performer, actress and visual artist working with hybrid forms using textiles, ceramics, silkscreen, pencil, glass, ink and watercolors.
Her work includes installations, performances, theater, theater costumes and a variety of other wearables.
Her work is concerned with the balance between the moving and the stationary.
It was shown in S.M.A.K./ for Coming People (Ghent, 2011), in de WERF (Brugge, 2011), Museum M (Leuven, 2011), Amazon Forest, Peru (Pucallpa, Lima, 2012), in the Red Sea/ Dahab Egypt for the International underwater Art festival (2012), VanHaerents Art Collection (Brussels, 2013), Midtown Manhatten (New York, 2013), La Casa O'Higgins Lima (Peru, 2013), NVT Galerie Ghent (Belgium, 2013). Futur: september 2014 solo exhibition in the Plantentuin Ghent, 2015 – 2016 working at HISK, Higher Institute for Fine Arts Advanced Studies & Practice-based Research
