Biography
I am an Italian artist currently based in London,
G. Ballo and P. Mondrian books and the constructivist, futurist and neoplasticism art movements have influenced my art concept and the way to perceive the world.
I frequented the Istituto D’Arte in Chieti (Italy)under the guide of Prof. G. Camillotti of “Disegno Geometrico” whom instigated in me the interest in Constructivism, Malevich, Kandinsky and Le Corbusier, the Prof.ssa Bellelli of “Storia D’Arte” and Prof. Sergio Mezzanotte whom introduced me to the “Arti Plastiche”.
The aim of my work is to inserts itself into a contemporary dialogue with constructivism and futurism.
I creates mixed media paintings, using geometric abstract compositions and a limited colour palette of primary blues, reds and yellows alongside oranges, whites and blacks to explore the fragmentation of the colour and of the form, to create composition characterised by my desire to present a " absence of man".
I see my act of painting as the union of spontaneous constructive logic of images and a plan carried out on the basis of a rational constructive process and intention, outside the individual outside the subjective, following the dialogue of the processes, engaging with the unlimited communicative nature of the forms and colours.
I consider that the colour the material and form to have a significant symbolism too.
I develop my work projects within series, my past projects were focused into the dynamic and fragmentation of the colours and the forms within the image, my actual series of work are confined in a more “settled” “static” image, aiming to create an overall plastic and dynamic composition of the form and colour.
I am also working on to develop projects of table sculpture and wall sculpture compositions to be presented alongside the paintings, the combination of the two is really engaging.
I was an artist in residence in the Bermondsey Project Space (Crisis UK and Bow Art collaboration) from 2010 to 2014, where I supported and organised workshop activities for the Crisis UK members, I now work from my studio in the East Ham area of London, and I recently featured in the Aesthetica Magazine Artist Director issue n. 68 and the Inside Artist magazine issue n.4.
