Biography

Ivory Crux was born on 6 July 1995.

Painter, sculptor and illustrator, her passion at a young age for figurative arts leads her to study at the art school Liceo Artistico Olivieri in Brescia, Italy, where she gets her first training, especially focusing on portraits.
At the same time she participates in various events dedicated to young artists.
At 19 she holds her first personal exhibition, at ‘Mondo Gondwana’ an intercultural artisan fair held in the occupied social centre of Toscolano Maderno (Brescia) on 10 May 2014. Her painting style is distinguished by the heavy and decisive hand that can be seen in all her work, from sculptures to oil paintings.
The subject matter of her works is surreal and dream-like, a crude condensation of carnality and obsessive visions which often finds expression in the macabre. Life and death, sacred ad profane, the dualism of life is underlined by her natural talent and the use of colour contrasts. Her main influences are Arnold Böcklin’s Symbolism, the Vienna Secessionists like Gustav Klimt and Surrealism.
In her paintings and sculptures creatures of the subconscious worthy of Bosch and Kris Kuksi appear in hallucinated environments where reality, the world of dreams and madness mix morbidly and maliciously in the vision of this young artist.
