Artist Statement
My work include different mediums like draw, sculpture, ceramic, embroidery, video and photography, however the subject remains allways the same: Nature as a resource of visual motivs and metaphor posibilities.
Nature becomes a scene inhabited by phantasy where animals and plants have a secret life.
I think phantasy and fiction are mediums to analyze and understand reality, in a way of confrontation, criticism, evasion and idealization.
In the last years I have dedicated myself to create an imaginary and fantastic world where landscape is dominated by scary woods where strange creatures lives(mixture of different kind of animals).
I suppose is my utopic idea of the world I would like to exist in 100 years, where human beings will no more exist the way we know them.
New species of beings in a new world, like the idea of creation and destruction on the world (Genesis) with my personal vision.
Paper is the principal material I use in all my work, I like it because of the colour and because it’s perfect for making organic shapes with volume in no mater what place I want.
I like the idea to make paintings with only paper and to use the techniques of paper mache to make volume shapes that grows of the traditional support of painting, because is a new way for me to understand painting and because it’s an original and creative way to mix sculpture with painting.
But first of all, drawings are the principal part of my work. All my ideas are born that way, is the most directly and simple way of make art. Sculptures and installations are always the result of a draw.
