Biography

The main characteristics of my current work are: the use of disparate raw materials and the compiling of figurative and abstract elements. Frequently geometrical design parts are linked to baroque shapes by using connection parts, specially designed and conceived for this purpose. Click-systems are fundamental in most of my art-works as I essentially produce foldable, versatile modular constructions/sculptures. My pieces are influenced by architecture and design precepts. The installations I manufacture are to be seen as puzzles triggering empirical and hypothetical questions, not only about the shapes or materials used but also about us humans.
Every piece I produce contains a mild shot of humour. I also have a keen interest for the inventor’s world and this influences my work. I am fascinated by the artists/inventors such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Panamarenko, Marvin Minsky and Claude Shannon amongst others.
My art-works prompts people to ask themselves questions about the use(fullness), the value and the purpose of these pieces. From the very beginning I always tried favouring the connection (physical, emotional, and intellectual) between the public and my objects. I achieved, with my more recent platforms, to originate the desire of participation in the creative process by the public. I want people to unleash their natural curiosity and change their perception of art being off-limits to Joe Public. I make it also a point of honour to season my work with a pinch of irony and add a frugal, but well thought-out dose of “je-m’en-foutisme” towards the art world. With my work I dispute the still rigid definition of art laid down by the art authority.
