Biography

Form and material are lost in the play of light or become accented as something else in the works of Brigitte Yoshiko Pruchnow. In the process of painting, Brigitte expands everyday moments and makes them infinite while celebrating colour and the abstraction of form.

Brigitte concentrates on the here and now and surface de- tails with a special focus on light, shadows and reflections, Fascinated by water, Brigitte delves into its structure and how it can be perceived and amplified by the play of light.

Brigitte has a M.A. degree in Japanology, Philosophy and History of Art and also a Diploma of the Munich Film Academy. She has received artistic training in Chinese ink calligraphy and Traditional Japanese painting (Nihonga) with Aguri Uchida. She also worked as a storyboard and graphic novel artist.
